The foreign ministry of ا.ا.ا says it categorically rejects any jurisdiction the International Criminal Court (ICC) claims over Afghanistan.
According to Pajhwok Afghan News, the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that the decision to issue arrest warrants for four officials was a clear violation of Afghanistan's national sovereignty, independence and the principle of non-interference in internal affairs. It accused the court of a selective and political approach and said it had no cooperation or engagement with the institution.
The statement added that Afghanistan was ready to engage constructively with the international community on the basis of mutual respect, but that interference in its internal affairs was unacceptable.
On Monday, the ICC unsealed four arrest warrants issued on 8 July and 9 September 2025. They name the leader of ا.ا.ا, Hibatullah Akhundzada; Chief Justice Abdul Hakim Haqqani; Education Minister Habibullah Agha; and Higher Education Minister Neda Mohammad Nadeem. The court accuses them of gender-based persecution of women and girls, which it treats as a crime against humanity.
According to BBC Pashto, the spokesman for ا.ا.ا, Zabihullah Mujahid, also wrote on X that they do not recognise the court and attach no value to its positions.
