Amir Khan Muttaqi, foreign minister of ا.ا.ا, met Iranian Foreign Ministry representative Mohammad Reza Bahrami in Moscow on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the eighth Moscow Format meeting on Afghanistan.
According to Ariana News, Afghanistan International and Omid Radio, the two sides discussed Afghanistan-Iran relations, regional developments and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Afghanistan International identified Bahrami as the Iranian Foreign Ministry's director general for South Asia.
Zia Ahmad Takal, head of information and public relations at the foreign ministry of ا.ا.ا, said the meeting stressed the importance of expanding economic cooperation and engagement between the two countries. He said Muttaqi thanked Iran for its engagement with Afghanistan and its constructive participation in regional meetings, and underlined the need to further expand relations between Kabul and Tehran.
Bahrami, for his part, stressed the importance of relations between the two neighbours and shared Iran's views on regional cooperation, stability and expanding economic ties.
The eighth Moscow Format meeting brought together representatives of Russia, Pakistan, Iran, India, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, with Belarus and Egypt attending as guests.
